Get Outdoors (for the Day) Day!
Saturday, June 11, 2011 is National Get Outdoors Day (GO Day)
GO Day is an outgrowth of the Get Outdoors USA! campaign, which encourages Americans, especially our youth, to seek out healthy, active outdoor lives and embrace our parks, forests, refuges and other public lands and waters. Working with the FS, Get Outdoors USA! hosted six recreation forums in early 2007 and learned that public lands were missing the right triggers to capture the attention of today"s youth.
The Anchorage Park Foundation is hosting (in partnership with the Anchorage Museum, Anchorage Parks and Recreation, AKontheGO, and Chugach National Forest) an event at the Anchorage Museum on Saturday June 11th from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Come on by for some mural painting, gardening, kite-making, or a host of hands-on activities. For more information check out www.anchorageparkfoundation.org or call Maegan Cieciel at 929-9268
