The Tongass and Chugach this week released the fourth and final collectible poster in the series created this year to commemorate International Year of Forests. The release marks the midway point of 2011, a year filled with activities and events that highlight the importance of sustainable management and conservation of Alaska’s forests as well as honor the role of these public lands in the lives of the people who live, work, and recreate here.
The four posters, all now available—free of charge—at any Forest Service office in the state, are unique to the Alaska Region and contain a variety of elements that reflect the values of Alaska’s forests. The final poster, themed “Find Your Inspiration,” features a man gazing through binoculars, surrounded by a long-billed curlew, mountains, a grizzly bear, and fireweed, all found on the Chugach and Tongass.
